Research Interests
Mathieu cause is interested in earthquake source physics and broadband ground-motion simulation. He received his PhD from UJF Grenoble in 2009 (with Prof. F. Cotton), and joined KAUST in Spring 2010. Mathieu's work at KAUST focused on estimating fracture energy in dynamic earthquake ruptures obtained from finite-fault source models. The scaling of fracture energy (and other earthquake source parameters) reveals important rupture properties that affect also the seismic radiation emitted during the rupture process.
