In this internship, Hisham investigates the response of reinforced concrete buildings subject to earthquake ground motions in sedimentary basins. The study aims to quantify the sensitivity of potential structural collapse to amplitude and duration of ground motions, obtained by scenario-based shaking simulations for different basin depths. Hisham’s research highlights the importance of choosing optimal ground-motion intensity measures in performance-based design of structures.
