Research Interests
My research attempts to study the response of buildings to earthquakes via large scale non-linear simulations. Currently, engineers employ expensive and complex non-linear analysis to determine the response of structures using a catalogue of past data. Besides being computationally demanding, this method possess serious limitations in cases with limited earthquake records such as: near field region of earthquakes and site-specific conditions. To circumvent this, cheaper alternatives to determine the response of structures from large scale non-linear simulations are being explored which can have useful implications in performance-based design of structures. A related area of interest is to observe the response of structures to physics based ground motion simulations.
